Adrian Lewis Peterson[1] (born March 21, 1985), nicknamed A.D. ("all day"), is a professional football running back for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL).[2] He played college football as a running back for three years at the University of Oklahoma. At Oklahoma, Peterson set the NCAA] freshman rushing record with 1,925 yards and finished as the schools' third all-time leading rusher.[3] Peterson was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

In 2007, Peterson has far exceeded Vikings fans' wildest expectations. He has exploded for multiple games with over 200 rushing yards [4], including one game against the San Diego Chargers in which he broke the NFL record for most rushing yards in a game, reaching a total of 296. The next week, however, Peterson tore his lateral collateral ligament in a 34-0 shutout loss to the Green Bay Packers. Although unable to play in the Vikings' next two games against the Oakland Raiders and the New York Giants, Peterson still remains atop the league's standings in rushing yards, with 1,081.
